As the Electronics Design Manager you will be surrounded by some of the best electronic engineers designing products for the marine oil and gas industry of which you will have the opportunity to lead.
Your engineers will look to you to be the technical authority for the electronics department, you will be inspirational, extremely technical and command respect through your knowledge and desire to keep pushing the barriers. Your team will consist of 8 electronic engineers.
You will be have project management skills proven on small to medium sized projects (our client produces low volume but highly priced products) and be able to demonstrate positive leadership skills.
You will have an extensive and proven track record of analogue and digital circuit design, ruggerdised design and data acquisition.
You will posses knowledge of serial communications, micro-controllers, analogue to digital conversion and low noise design techniques from schematics capture to PCB level.

Main Purpose of Job:
• Head of electronics design
• Planning of resources within the electronics design department
• Mentoring, training and supervision of Design Engineers
• Management of multiple design projects
• Introduction and monitoring of design procedures within the department with the objective of attaining ISO9001
• Documentation generation and control with regard to processes and procedures relating to ISO9001
• Product design to include analogue, digital, software and system integration design
People:
• Reporting to the Technical Manager
• Leading a small design team of electronics engineers
• The responsibilities within this role require effective communication with all company departments and personnel as well as Seamap customers
• Ensure that staff work in compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act, company rules regarding safe working procedures and conditions for contractors.
• Ensure standards of behaviour and discipline are maintained throughout the electronics design department
• Manage Sub-contract Draughtsmen and Engineers as necessary.
• Develop members of the Design team through training relative to new products and existing products
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Installation, start-up and management of multiple projects
• Generation and control of documentation of processes and procedures
• Ensure that any engineering work undertaken complies with the requirements of ISO 9001 standards, and governing agencies
• Supervising, motivating and organising the design team
• To maximise the potential of all available resources, e.g. people and machinery, whilst conforming to all statutory and company standards
• Maximise the contribution by our own Engineering Staff and outside contractors to ensure projects are completed on time and to budget
